THE DRUGS END ALL DREAMS (D.E.A.D) SCHOOL PROJECT
THEME: ABOVE THE INFLUENCE
The Drugs End All Dreams (D.E.A.D) School Project is an educational and cooperative project organized by the Year 9 classes of Honeyland College as a pilot project, addressing adolescents and youths involved or experimenting with drugs using the “student-to-student” approach. The theme for the year was “ABOVE THE INFLUENCE”. The D.E.A.D project held on Wednesday, the 26th of January, 2022 but marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which is held every year on the 26th of June. The D.E.A.D project used the adolescents as points of contact to reach out to other adolescents all over Nigeria. The D.E.A.D project used interpersonal communication strategy through face-to-face interaction. D.E.A.D coordinates music, poetry, drama, speech, informative slide lectures, donations and performance styles to raise awareness about drug abuse.
The mission of the project was to build a legion of high school students that are enlightened and devoted to the eradication of drug and substance abuse among youths in the country
The program consisted of lectures, speech presentations, poems, drama presentations, educative videos, etcetera. Among the invited guests was Pharm. Mrs Wole-Ajayi (Aunt Julie) who actively engaged the students on the medical implications of drug and substance abuse.
Gift items like books, pens, fliers, umbrellas, etcetera were given out to the students.
The students left fully aware and empowered to SAY NO TO DRUG ABUSE.
